Description

This Cream Cheese Chicken is a quick 30-minute skillet dinner. Tender chicken breasts are coated in a creamy garlic herb sauce made with cream cheese, broth, and simple seasonings. Perfect for weeknights, it delivers comfort with pantry staples and minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale

8 ounces cream cheese, softened

2 large chicken breasts

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Salt & pepper, to taste

1 tablespoon butter

1 tablespoon olive oil

1/2 medium onion, chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

3/4 cup chicken broth

1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

1. Soften the cream cheese in the microwave, cut into small pieces, and set aside.

2. Slice chicken breasts lengthwise into 4 thinner cutlets. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

3. Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken for 5-6 minutes per side until golden and cooked through (165°F). Transfer to a plate.

4. Reduce heat to medium. Add onions to skillet and sauté 5-7 minutes until softened and lightly browned.

5. Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds.

6. Add broth, cream cheese, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Stir until smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.

7. Return chicken to skillet and coat with sauce. Simmer gently to warm through.

8. Thin sauce with extra broth if needed. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper. Garnish with parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

Use full-fat cream cheese for the richest sauce.

Light cream cheese works too but may need extra broth.

Add vegetables like mushrooms or spinach for variety.

Serve with pasta, rice, or potatoes to soak up the sauce.
