Description
German Chocolate Poke Cake combines rich chocolate sponge with a gooey coconut-pecan filling and a smooth frosting. Moist, indulgent, and perfect for gatherings.
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups granulated sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup whole milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup boiling water
1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup sweetened condensed milk
1 cup chocolate frosting
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.
2. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cocoa in a large bowl.
3. Add milk, oil, eggs, and vanilla. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
4. Stir in boiling water until batter is smooth.
5. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake 30–35 minutes, until toothpick comes out clean.
6. Cool for 10 minutes in the pan.
7. Poke holes across the cake with the handle of a wooden spoon.
8. Mix condensed milk with coconut and pecans, then pour over cake to fill holes.
9. Cool completely.
10. Spread chocolate frosting evenly over the top.
11. Serve at room temperature or chilled.
Notes
Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
