Tender chicken breasts cooked in a creamy basil and mozzarella sauce for a comforting Italian-inspired meal.
Ingredients
4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
Salt and black pepper to taste
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 cup chicken broth
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
1½ teaspoons dried basil or ¼ cup chopped fresh basil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon butter
Instructions
1. Pat chicken dry and season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
2. Sear in olive oil until golden, then set aside.
3. Melt butter in skillet and sauté garlic until fragrant.
4. Add chicken broth and scrape the pan to release browned bits.
5. Stir in heavy cream, mozzarella, and Parmesan until smooth.
6. Add basil and return chicken to the pan.
7. Simmer on low for 10 minutes until sauce thickens and chicken is cooked through.
8. Serve hot with pasta, potatoes, or bread.
Notes
Use half-and-half for a lighter sauce.
Add spinach or tomatoes for extra freshness.
A pinch of red pepper flakes gives gentle heat.
